My approach to therapeutic work with clients is a mixture of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic (attachment, emotional, relationally-focused) techniques - in other words,

working with me will feel friendly, warm and full of mutual curiosity but always focused on being proactive in your goals, developing greater self-awareness, and movement towards healthy changes and connection with what is important to you.

Clinical Specialties

Specialty Populations

Perinatal Mental Health

In my primary job position at a Kaiser OBGYN clinic, I commonly treat patients with perinatal mental health, adjustment-related, gynecologically related mood issues in a short-term, solution-focused way. This often includes treating postpartum mood disorders, processing birth trauma or trauma related with having a baby/babies in the NICU, adjustment to parenthood, relationship stress, and other topics. I often actively weave in discussions of cultural identity in these discussions to deepen this work.

Asian American & Ethnic Minority mental health

With professional and personal experience on Asian American and ethnic minority identity, I am comfortable deepening and guiding one’s ethnic identity development, understanding of intergenerational conflict, making sense of experiences of injustice and discrimination and empowering those I work with with a closer connection to these cultural parts of themselves and therefore with others.

Young/Emerging Adulthood

There are so many rich experiences associated with being a young/emerging adult that old school psychology does not always bring to light. As a millennial, I encourage finding ways to thrive and enjoy life that are embedded in the things my clients care about including references to pop culture and subcultures like K-Pop, anime, gaming.

Veteran Mental Health

I have had the privilege of serving a diverse group of veterans in my training years through multiple Veteran Affair hospitals (Palo Alto, San Francisco, Loma Linda) and clinical rotations, including a client population across the age spectrum, military branch, gender and ethnic identities. I have supported veterans in processing trauma (combat trauma, sexual trauma, complex trauma, childhood trauma), depression, and perinatal mental health disorders.
